The Glass Castle Is As Bad As 50 Shades Of Grey

I refuse to use bad language in this blog, but The Glass Castle is pretty much worthy of all the bad words that are out there. It takes a story of abuse, neglect, children watching their parents beat up eat other and then start to have sex, a grandmother trying to rape her grandson, a father purposely almost killing his daughter on multiple occasions, and turns it all... ROMANTIC? This reminds me of the Fifty Shades of Grey / BDSM concept. Utterly similar. I kept on watching the film, because I had to see that the girl turned out okay. Because I had to see that justice was served (OR AT LEAST THAT THE TRUTH OF ABUSE AND A HEALTHY RESPONSE TO IT WERE ACKNOWLEDGED ) ... None of this happened! So in the end the moral of the story is... if a family member or anyone else abuses you through neglect, physical, mental, emotional, and/or sexual means the proper response is to... laugh it off and remember the sentimental moments when they were kind of sort of a little endearing. THIS IS US!!!

I LOVE this series! It isn't by any means perfect, but it really delves into the complexity of the human person with the good, the bad, and the ugly. SPOILERS ALERT:  Some small spoilers may be contained in the content below. DISCLAIMER: This blog post was written prior to watching any full episodes from Season 2 but after viewing many spoiler clips (since I was dependent on YouTube for anything I saw of Season 2). It portrays the complexities of marriage while providing the image of an INCREDIBLE husband being for his wife and kids what I think God calls most if not all fathers and husbands to be. Jack is not without fault. He comes with an addiction...

This blog isn't to straight out diss the movie. I will start out by noting that the film has incredibly catchy songs and the animation is beautiful. That said, here are some of my concerns with the film. I should probably note before I begin the blog that I am Catholic, and my Catholic values and beliefs do play  into my concerns. That said, I hope you won't brush these concerns away as having no basis outside of the faith. One of the biggest things that stands out to me when I watch a film is its Themes . What does the movie stand for or support? What is the moral of the story? What is the movie glorifying and glamorizing? Here are the themes that stand out to me in Moana: Independence: One thing I like about Moana is that it points to bravery and figuring things out for yourse...
